Alternate titles:
Why this is called "The Golden State"
or, I Promise There is Something in Here Somewhere That Makes Sense
I want to write another post where I just talk to you, and I decided to make this one more about what inspires me currently, and things I am working on in my life. Because I am in the middle of a 3 weeks break from some things, I am revamping my human experience!!!
"Be steady and well-ordered in your life, so that you can be fierce and original in your work" - Gustave Flaubery
Things keeping my life well-orded:
+ A 3 week food cleanse (I'm pretty much only eating vegetables and eggs right now)
+ Getting back into the habit of carrying a water bottle with me
+ Getting rid of my need to be complimented in order to feel accomplished or successful.
+ Making my bedroom a sanctuary, an escape, and a creative & inspiring workplace.
+ Yoga + Meditation every night (I've been doing this since I returned home from college and I find it fascinating and grounding)
+ Learning about the healing and changing qualities of different gemstones, and growing my collection of really pretty rocks pretty much, ask me about that
Things keeping my work fierce:
+ My new yellow desk
+ Continuing to always push the publish button! No matter what number draft it is.
+ Lagoon to the Moon E-Mag by my new favorite graphic designer, Tess Guinery
+ Actually wearing the more bold clothing items I have bought but never wear (i.e. head wraps, overalls, and hats are things I love but sometimes chicken out about wearing, I'm changing that)
+ Remembering how much I need Passion Pit in my life more often lol
+ People, always and forever people (I mean this in two ways-- people forever and always, and always and forever people. Let me explain: I need people who are also in this to last, people who create lasting things, but also in the sense that people in general never fail to inspire me and always will. I enjoy daily doses of the human experience, and I will always listen to your story, let me take you to lunch)
+ Kinfolk Magazine (also a must, I want a stack that's as tall as I am one day)
Now, I am coming up on an eighteen month break from my creative projects in their current forms. Heavens no, I am not giving up on creativity for a year and a half. But I am excited for this chance to very much rearrange my creative process, especially when I return to UT. Up until now I have been living the best lifestyle I could with what I have on hand, (and for me that really does apply to everything from my writing to my Instagram to my design to my painting) but I have decided that after my break I am going to switch that around-- I am going to surround myself with what I need on hand to live the lifestyle I want. I want to be a better poet with more refined works and more drafts written, I do want to go to college for Graphic Design, I want to go to more small cafes, I want to talk to more people, I want to drive to Oregon and see Salvation Mountain in California, I want to get more haircuts. They are small things, but they mean everything to me.
That is my golden state.
