Performed at USU's December 'Poetry & a Beverage'
But I'm not.
I'm two parts walls and one part doors.
I'm the first iPod nano you ever owned, you remember it,
the music still sounded just as good coming out of that.
I'm the first iPod nano you ever owned, you remember it,
the music still sounded just as good coming out of that.
And I'm in the middle of a staring contest with God.
He's waiting to watch me move, and I'm making sure He's watching.
God never blinks.
To quote one of my favorite poets:
"I know that God listens to my heartbeat on his iPod."
See, He has one of those original nanos, too.
Now let me tell you a little more about myself.
I don't have OCD,
but I can't leave the radio volume on an uneven number,
and I have this bad habit of straightening your smile when it gets crooked.
I cleared out my phone for this so someone could record it.
I cleared out my heart for them so someone could destroy it,
and I gave you the job of repairman,
and that was wrong of me.
So I'll continue my staring contest with God.
Because he lets me know I was never a how-to
a blind jump,
or a mistake.
