DAVE

10.28.2015

I want to write about David McFarland.

You know how the nice people always ask
"can I bring you anything?"
and we say no it's fine and they say okay well let me know.

Well, I say "no it's fine" and David shows up half an hour later with a frostie,
and forces me out to my front porch,
and listens.

And you know how people say
"want to hang out and watch a movie?"
Well, David shows up in his red mustang convertible and says
"let's go for a drive"
and wants to see the house that I turned eight in,
and the other house that I got my little brother in,
and the house I cried the most in.

And everyone else said
"I'm tired, take me home"
Well, David dropped them off but kept driving,
until he found us city lights that blinded our curfews,
and stars that didn't need wishes.

Dave and I are 3am views and bad day frosties and best friends.
And I miss him.
