This isn't a poem about you.

This isn't a poem about you.
It's about the day I read an entire book hanging upside down over the sofa at age seven.

Because I think you hate it when I write about you.
The book was about Yellowstone geysers.

I think I hate it too when I write about you.
Old Faithful was better in the book than it was in person.

But the way I see it is- people are supposed to write about love,
and you are the only boy I loved once.
Maybe because there was a blood rush to my head or maybe because not a lot of things are faithful.

Another way I see it is- in two years you'll be glad I wrote all this crap about you,
or in two years we'll be done talking and it won't matter anyway.

But maybe I'm seeing all of this upside down.
