HOSPITAL BED

I spent the weekend being told that
people can see right through my screen door pretenses.

My sister who can drive stick shift when I can't
my mom and the other end of our white table
my roommate

"I don't have to read between the lines,
all the lines scream the same thing."

Well I'm afraid of what they are screaming,
and I am afraid that everyone else can see the message, too.

Home was never meant to be my hospital bed,
but mom, sometimes I forget to take my vitamins,
and you were always the one to make everything better.

The doctor keeps moving back the diagnosis date,
please don't keep me waiting to find out
which it will be
