"My thoughts are stars I can't form into constellations"
- John Green

There once was a girl with thoughts like stars. Her brainstorms were like supernovas but each thought they created were individual and unique, hardly ever connecting to create chains of coherent thought. She thought about people, and flowers, and the beauty of the night sky, but never were these thoughts connected to each other. Her brain jumped from thought to thought like light through a prism bounces across a wall.

One day, as the girl sat trying to form her thoughts into a series of observations, she kept getting distracted by the trees and the sun on her back. Her mind refused to stay down to one idea long enough to put it into words, her thoughts were as diverse as each individual asteroid and they would not come together to form a belt. She tried for hours to stay focused on one thing, to no avail.

The god of the skies looked down at the girl and took pity. He thought to himself, surely there must be some way to help her beautiful thoughts come together to create something even more stunning. He pondered the girl’s situation until he knew what he would he could do.

Gently the god of the skies reached down and choose from the girl’s thoughts. He plucked up the most beautiful thoughts the girl had ever had and gathered them together. He laid them out and touched them each lightly with his great finger, and as he touched them they took a new form. Each thought became a star, the shiniest stars the sky had ever held, fueled by the innocence of the young girl and the desire of her heart to connect her thoughts together.

The sky god knew exactly where he wanted to place these new stars. For some time he had felt a part of the sky longing to house something special. Give us something wonderful to hold, that part of the sky had said, we want to make the universe even prettier. So when the last thought had been changed into a star, he took them all and placed them in their spot, giving the world a new constellation.

In her hard work the girl had not noticed that the sun had moved on, tired of lighting that part of the sky and ready for something new. The moon had just begun his turn as the girl finally looked up, her eyes finding that the empty part of the sky was now filled. Her soul sighed with gratitude as she realized that each new star was one of her thoughts, and that together they were forming a new shape- a heart. Though each star was unique, together they created something new. Just as the girl’s thoughts, as random as they seemed, came together to form her heart, her very essence. Her star like thoughts had finally formed a constellation.
